MyCreds™ Reaching Higher Newsletter Fall 2021

Welcome to the fall edition of the ARUCC MyCreds™ Reaching Higher newsletter

As MyCreds™ enters its second year, we are excited to see the National Network roll out at a rapid pace across the country. To date, 20 institutions have onboarded to MyCreds™ and over 100,000 learners have been provisioned with their very own virtual credential wallets.  

Read on to learn about our progress, discover new and innovative uses of MyCreds™ and explore upcoming events in the higher education community.

New to MyCreds™️ this quarter

In August:

NAIT onboarded to MyCreds™. This is the first of many steps they are taking as the institution grows its capacity to support the accessibility and mobility of NAIT academic documents and credentials for its learners. 

Conestoga College launched MyCreds™ ground-breaking platform to serve the College’s expanding student population. The College is experiencing rapid growth that is driving a greater need for innovative services that benefit students and alumni.

In September:

OCAD University, the oldest and largest comprehensive art, design and digital media university in Canada, became an issuer and receiver on the National Network.  

HEC Montréal became the first French language university in Canada and the first university in Quebec to join the MyCreds™ National Network. 

Olds College adopted the platform, and will be providing students several types of academic documents via MyCreds™, including access to digital badges upon completion of micro-credential courses.   

Centennial College joined MyCreds™. With Centennial typically issuing more than 37,000 paper transcripts annually, MyCreds™ offers the College’s 35,000+ students and 200,000 alumni a state-of-the-art alternative to paper transcripts. Take a look at their MyCreds™ student video.

MyCreds™ | MesCertif ™ Awarded 1st Place for ‘Mobile Learner’ in 22nd Annual Best Practices

The Board of Directors of the Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council (PESC) is pleased to announce ARUCC MyCreds MesCertif National Network as 1st Place Winner for Mobile Learner role in PESC’s 22nd Annual Best Practices Competition. The award-winning submission made by ARUCC is posted on the PESC website with prior winners at www.pesc.org. An Awards Ceremony will be held during the General Sessions at PESC’s October 2021 Data Summit being held virtually October 19-21, 2021. Governance update

ARUCC is pleased to announce two new committees to support MyCreds™: the Patron Advisory Group and the Associate Registrar’s Group.

Patron Advisory Group

The Patron Advisory Group is a strategic committee with the purpose of raising funds (grants, donations), awareness and advocacy support for MyCreds™. The committee will have the following objectives: 

  • To attract funding to support the continued growth and sustainability of MyCreds™. 
  • To secure government support for MyCreds™. 
  • To secure partnerships that contribute to the long-term viability and sustainability of the network.
  • To advance rapid adoption and support for MyCreds™.
  • To contribute in other ways as appropriate to the long-term vision for MyCreds™.

Onboarded Associate Registrars’ Group

The Associate Registrars’ Group will provide a discussion venue for associate registrars from onboarded schools to share best practices, policies and advice as a support for local implementation of MyCreds™.

Why become a receiving organization?

ARUCC’S MyCreds™ offers a comprehensive portal to enable management of incoming learner records directly from issuing colleges, universities and organizations. Our goal is to enable fast and efficient learner-specific retrieval of official student documents.  

Becoming set up as a receiving organization is quick and easy. Receiving organizations are provisioned with their own unique MyCreds™ receiver portal, allowing learners to send their documents directly to the organization on the network at the touch of a button. MyCreds™ receiver portals permit fast sorting of documents, easy lookup and retrieval, and efficient document workflow processing. GDN 10th Annual Meeting

November 10-12, 2021

Join international thought leaders at the 10th Annual Meeting of the Groningen Declaration Network. Under the broad theme of Mobility, Digital Citizenship and the Student Experience, stakeholders from around the globe will meet to share experiences and examine issues of mobility and recognition through many different lenses. The pandemic has changed the narrative and we are preparing an engaging program agenda and information exchange to feed our community’s thirst for meaningful engagement around shared interests. This historic meeting will be delivered in a hybrid format, in person (in Ottawa, Canada) and virtually (online). Participants will have the option to register for the format that works best for their circumstances, making it the most accessible GDN Annual Meeting in its history.

PESC October 2021 Data Summit

October 19-21, 2021

The October 2021 Data Summit is held live and online Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, October 19th, 20th & 21st. PESC data summits include a range of topics all targeting access, implementation and integration of data systems; maintenance and promotion of data standards; open, community-driven development and innovation of technology; data privacy, data quality, data management, and data collection and reporting; mobility and overall interoperability; and other key factors that drive global education data systems development and technology.

TAICEP 2021 Virtual Conference: “TAICEP around the world”
