Nova Scotia’s MyCreds Steering Committee awarded the ARUCC MyCreds | MesCertif “Next Practice and Innovation Award 2024”
Halifax, NS— Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada proudly announces the successful completion of the ARUCC MyCreds|MesCertif national network onboarding project across all public post-secondary institutions in Nova Scotia and the winner of the “Next Practice and Innovation Award 2024″. This initiative made possible through generous funding from Nova Scotia’s Department of Advanced Education, marks a significant milestone in enhancing learner mobility and self-sovereignty in the province. The MyCreds network provides a secure and efficient platform for students to access and share their academic credentials. By connecting all public post-secondary institutions, this initiative fosters collaboration and empowers learners with greater control over their educational journeys.
For the successful completion of this project, Nova Scotia’s MyCreds Steering Committee was awarded the ARUCC MyCreds | MesCertif “Next Practice and Innovation Award 2024”. The Next Practice and Innovation Award recognizes ARUCC members or teams that have moved a project or initiative beyond best practices to create “next practices” (tomorrow’s innovations) with bold thinking and game-changing ideas.
Shawna Garrett, President & CEO of EduNova, emphasizes, “MyCreds delivers the essential digital infrastructure that streamlines admissions, registrations, graduations and transitions into the workforce. This secure document exchange system allows prospective students, current students, and graduates to request and share their credentials for admissions, funding, or employment—both provincially and globally. With MyCreds fully implemented, we anticipate faster admissions decisions for students, whether they are in-province, out-of-province, or international.”
Jodi Tavares, Executive Director of MyCred adds, “This successful implementation showcases what can be achieved when government support and collaborative efforts come together for a unified approach. We are thrilled to have the Nova Scotia implementation serve as a blueprint for supporting student learner agency nationwide.”
“The Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents (CONSUP) has played an important role in the MyCreds implementation across the province, aligning it with its Post-Secondary Education Solutions Strategy aimed at fostering a thriving and sustainable university sector. A steering committee, with representation from CONSUP, EduNova, and post-secondary institutions led the project overall, collaborating closely with each institution throughout the onboarding process.”
The two-year implementation of MyCreds represents an investment of approximately $2 million, primarily funded by the Government of Nova Scotia Advanced Education’s Innovation Fund, alongside contributions from EduNova.
“We’re pleased to support the creation of an accessible platform that promotes student agency and mobility in Nova Scotia,” said Brian Wong, Minister of Advanced Education. “I’m delighted that the Steering Committee was recognized with this national award for successfully introducing MyCreds across the province.”
As Nova Scotia continues to lead in innovative educational practices, the successful implementation of the ARUCC MyCreds|MesCertif network stands as a testament to the power of collaboration in achieving meaningful outcomes for students.
