Scalability & Access to the National Network – ARUCC MyCreds | MesCertif

Overview

The MyCreds approach to ensuring the national network is accessible refers to a framework designed to ensure that institutions or trade agencies focused on local communities and serving Indigenous communities can fully participate in the national network. These institutions, termed within MyCreds as Scalable Institutions, focus on delivering Indigenous curriculum and have unique challenges, including potentially limited resources and smaller student populations compared to larger institutions.

Scalable institutions are crucial to ARUCC’s broader mission of ensuring equal access to the digital credential network for all educational institutions, irrespective of their size, student population, or expected transaction volume. By recognizing the vital role of these institutions, ARUCC MyCreds/MesCertif ensures that these schools are not excluded due to resource constraints but can still benefit from the shared infrastructure and opportunities of the digital credential network.

In line with Canadian national human rights frameworks, the term “access” emphasizes the right of individuals to acquire goods, services, opportunities, and information without facing discrimination or barriers. These rights are rooted in the principles of equality, inclusion, and opportunity for all individuals, regardless of characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, disability, religion, or age.

MyCreds’ Approach to ensuring Access – Definition

A Scalable Institution within the context of the ARUCC MyCreds/MesCertif digital credential network refers to post-secondary institutions or trade agencies serving Indigenous communities and are focused on delivering Indigenous curriculum, which may have limited resources or student populations compared to larger institutions.

Scalable institutions are integral to our mission of ensuring equal access to the national network for all institutions, regardless of size, student population or anticipated transaction volume.

In the context of Canadian national human rights frameworks, the term “access” generally refers to the right of individuals to obtain goods, services, opportunities, or information without facing discrimination or barriers based on protected characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender, disability, religion, or age. Access encompasses the idea of equal opportunity and inclusion for all members of society.

By integrating Scalable institutions into the ARUCC MyCreds/MesCertif network, the goal is to provide equal opportunity and inclusion for Indigenous-serving institutions, ensuring they can actively participate in the digital credentialing ecosystem and support their students’ mobility and recognition in the broader national and international educational landscape.
