We are celebrating the two-year birthday of MyCreds! ARUCC is delighted to share the wonderful successes, progress and updates of the Network with our community. With 41 post-secondary institutions launched, 450,000+ learner wallets created, and 650,000+ academic documents issued, the MyCreds™️ network has become well established coast to coast.
In late August, Trinity Western University joined the MyCreds™ National Network, to give students and graduates 24/7 access to records such as transcripts, letters, degrees, in their own virtual credential wallet. Students can now request these documents through their MyCreds wallet and share as they wish. Read TWU’s press release here.
Trent University joined MyCreds™ in mid-September and will use MyCreds™ as their secure and official means to issue a suite of academic documents including parchments, transcripts, confirmation of graduation letters and confirmation of enrolment letters. Trent is also now a registered receiving organization on the Network, allowing learners worldwide to send their documents to the institution directly via the MyCreds™ portal. Also in September, NorQuest College began issuing digital transcripts to learners and graduates through MyCreds™. More digital documents will be phased in over time, including parchments, confirmation of enrolment letters, and confirmation of graduation letters. Read NorQuest’s press release here.
The University of Saskatchewan launched MyCreds™ in October. With USask typically issuing approximately 15,000 paper transcripts each year, MyCreds™ offers the University’s 26,155 students and 186,000 alumni a state-of-the-art replacement for paper transcripts. This will give them full control of how and when they share their credentials with post-secondary institutions, employers, governments and other domestic and international third parties. Université de Moncton is the first post-secondary institution in New Brunswick to join MyCreds™ and the first French language school to launch outside of Québec. Université de Moncton students and graduates are now able to securely access and share digitized diplomas and transcripts online, 24/7. Read Université de Moncton’s press release here.
All current and former Canadore College students can now request their transcripts to be issued to their MyCreds™ online portal. Graduates will have additional access to their digitized credentials and confirmation of graduation letters available upon graduation. Other official documents will be phased in over time. The University of Ottawa launched MyCreds in November giving students and alumni 24/7 access to their academic credentials digitally. We are excited to have them on board.

Ten post-secondary institutions have been selected as participants in the MyCreds™ Ontario Virtual Skills Passport pilot project for micro-credentials. The ground-breaking initiative is advancing the development of micro-credentials across Ontario, in the delivery of verifiable digital micro-credentials via MyCreds™ and the creation of open standards for digital micro-credentials. The ARUCC MyCreds™ National Network team has created an ecosystem collaboration opportunity and is delivering a series of webinars to introduce the community to next generation technology solutions and nomenclature to support sharing of verifiable digital credentials. This work stems from our Ontario Virtual Skills Passport project and involves expanding the broader higher education community’s understanding of self-sovereign identity (SSI), Verifiable Credentials (VCs), and more through a collaborative ecosystem approach. Through these initiatives, MyCreds™ seeks to advance next generation efforts to support learner mobility.
Each of these community-based sessions, delivered in collaboration with our program lead, DCC Inc., and our technology partners at MATTR Global and Digitary, support knowledge building and active engagement in the standards ecosystem for MyCreds™, the development of micro-credential data standards, and the adoption of interoperable data standards.
Open Standards for Micro-Credentials: Advancing Interoperability and Mobility
Learn how ARUCC MyCreds, powered by the Digitary by Parchment platform, is aligning national standards in Canada, beginning with the micro-credentialing use case. By leveraging existing standards, ARUCC MyCreds will reinforce a collaborative consultation model and support evolution of a more open ecosystem. In this webinar, we’ll share current findings from research and engagement with our higher education community to identify practices and data models aimed at aligning approaches for specific use cases.
A GitHub provides an overview of the technical standards and specifications being utilized in the ecosystem to issue, hold and verify micro–credentials being issued to learners through the MyCreds™ platform using the new technology. Nova Scotia will begin a province-wide implementation of MyCreds. All public post-secondary institutions in the province through a collaboration with the Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents (CONSUP) and EduNova.

The new Verification Services capacity in MyCreds™ is soon to launch. It will be called “MyCreds™ Verify” and will provide a new third-party interface for batch and individual verification of graduation. It will be of great interest for recruiters and large employer firms that need to officially verify a learner’s graduation across the credential spectrum. We have demonstrated this system at the Deputy Registrars’ Meeting and the Technical Working Group meeting and would like to formally extend thanks to Toronto Metropolitan University for their support on the working group to develop this new functionality for the Canadian Market. The Destiny One integration with MyCreds™ is soon to launch. The planned functionality will allow institutions to associate badges to courses and issue them directly to MyCreds from their Destiny One environments. The Beta is anticipated to be available by end of Q1 with a full launch in Q2. Stay tuned for more information. Read the press release here.
The Ontario Council on Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) and MyCreds announced in fall 2022 a renewal of the institutional funding opportunity which provides financial support for Ontario colleges, universities, and Indigenous Institutes to onboard transcripts to MyCreds™ as part of ONCAT’s mission to support learner mobility and seamless transfer experiences.
